Connecting the Edge Data Center

An edge data center is connected in two directions. It has to have a fast connection to end users’ devices. The data center must also have a fast connection to the Internet. Without these two sets of connections, the edge data center cannot fulfil its role in delivering low latency computing.

Connecting to Device Users

There are two basic modes of connection between an edge data center and end users’ devices: wireless and wired. Wireless connections involve end user devices, such as mobile devices like smartphones and IoT sensors, communicating with the edge data center through built-in antennas on both ends.
