The unparalleled flexibility of a DSLR is down to the fact that you can use interchangeable lenses of varying focal lengths, from fish-eye to super-telephoto.

The good news is that if you have a large collection of existing lenses for your film SLR, it’s more than likely that you can use them on the same brand of DSLR, even though some new camera features will be unavailable with older models of lens.
