Knowing the Business: Moving from Passenger to Driver

In 2011, CareerBuilder conducted a survey of over 7,500 employees across industries and they found more than two-thirds (68 percent) of employees did not know how much revenue their companies generated each year.1 According to another study, only 14 percent of employees understand their company’s strategy and direction.2 A Gallup survey found that only 41 percent of employees understand what their company stands for and how their brand is different from their competitors.3 It is astonishing to learn the extent to which most employees do not understand important aspects of the companies with which they work!
