Beyond the Basics: Machine Learning, AI, and the Future
“Siri, what’s the weather in San Francisco?” I still remember the first time I used Siri. It seems quite magical, which is something that has happened quite often with Apple products. Back in 2011, Siri had a slight lag but it was still incredible. You could use your voice and get someone (or something) to respond back to you with relevant answers.
Despite the obvious limitations of Siri, it was a great showcase of the power of machine learning and what would become data science. The study of how computers think dates back all the way to the 1950s but it would take a long time before we could see its fruits in such obvious ways like Siri.
