Harmony is two or more pitches or notes played or sung at the same time. Harmony is the general topical term, and chord means one specific harmony.
You can build a chord on any note of the scale. If you have three notes stacked on top of each other, as above, you have a full three-note chord (triad). You hear all three pitches at once.
