I was still thinking about Emily when we left the Charlotte airport in a rental car with Evan and Alex. Did the date go well or not, I wondered? Emily was probably the toughest woman to read that I have ever met. I never felt in control when I was around her. It is as if I was playing chess with Kasparov, she was always five steps ahead of me.
“Thinking about the plant visit?” asked Evan, who sat next to me in a front passenger seat, after I stayed quiet for a while driving the car.
