Glossary of Terms

BOM: Bill of material, or a list of all the materials used in an assembly.

Cycle time: The time between manufacture of each part; how fast parts come out at the end of its manufacturing process.

ECU: Electronic control unit, or PCBA installed typically in a housing; together with software, the unit controls operation of a mechanical assembly.

FAST diagram: Function analysis system technique (FAST) diagram provides a graphical representation of how product functions are linked or work together.

PCBA: Printed circuit board assembly, or PCB with assembled electronic components.

P&L: Profit and loss statement; describes major revenues and expenses for a plant or other business identity.
