Week 1
When I started training for the New York City Marathon, I ran alone. I focused on building my stamina, finding my stride, and running farther each week. It was months before I could even think about running in a group. But as the date for the marathon grew nearer, I knew I’d have to start running with other people to feel ready to run alongside 60,000 runners on the day of the race.
I reached out to my friend Esi, who originally inspired me to run the marathon and who turned out to be an excellent coach.
