Here, the five fingers, lightly spread, are all on the same plane. They aren’t forcing anything: it’s the surface they are in contact with that is keeping them in position. The only effort taking place is at the level of the wrist and the palm.

This is the position the hand takes when it is holding up the body, holding a platter, or leaning against a wall.
