Alfa Romeo 8C 2600
Histories of automotive design will always
have a spot for the Alfa Romeo 8C.
Designed in the early 1930s by Italian
Vittorio Jano, the car is an engineering
masterpiece.
Although the Alfa Romeo 8C was very
successful in 1931 and 1932, economic
troubles forced Alfa Romeo to drop
its in-house racing team in 1933. The
Scuderia Ferrari, led by none other than
Enzo Ferrari, stepped in and became Alfa
Romeo’s acting racing team. One of the
cars used by the Scuderia Ferrari was the
8C 2600, which was fitted with a super-
charged 156-cubic-inch (2,556 cc) V8
engine.
