Can I just say one thing.
“It ain’t about the mic”
Let me clarify. It’s so easy to fall into the gear thing when you are just starting out in voiceover.
I hear it all the time. “What microphone did Don LaFontaine use? I really want to get that mic and pair it up with the same pre-amp he used …” And that’s the beginning of the thought process that takes you on the path away from what really matters.
The truth of the matter is, Don could have spoken into two Dixie cups connected by a string and have a career, because as Don used to say to me and to so many others, “Voiceover is not about the voice.”
