Practice Drawing Lightly for 15 Minutes

For 15 minutes, practice drawing lightly using the overhand grip. Remember to draw from your shoulder and elbow, not from your wrist or fingers. Your goal is to practice light lines until they become second nature. These lines should be clearly visible to you when you are drawing but should nearly disappear from about 10 to 15 feet away.

Once you are able to draw lightly using the overhand grip, you’re ready to learn how to draw basic shapes.
