THE PERSPECTIVE EFFECTS

The Perspective effects attempt to create the illusion of 3D, mostly with things like beveled edges and shadows. These effects are somewhat obsolete, especially with the introduction of Photoshop's layer styles in After Effects CS3. Layer styles allow you to add the Bevel and Emboss effect, which is much more powerful (and looks much better) than the bevel effects in this category.

However, the big problem with these layer styles is that they prohibit layers that they are applied to from intersecting in 3D space.
