It is impossible to discuss television production without briefly covering the second screen. A second screen refers to some type of computer device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) being used to access additional information about what is being seen on television. It is sometimes referred to as enhancing the viewing experience. As it continues to be integrated into standard television, new technologies are being created to engage the viewer in new and different ways.
