W. Eugene Seago, Ph.D. J.D., is the Virginia Tech Curling Professor Emeritus of Accounting. He received his Ph.D. and J.D. degrees from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the Virginia Bar and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is the former editor of the Journal of Legal Tax Research and president of the American Taxation Association. In 2008 he was named the Outstanding Tax Educator by the EY Education Foundation.
He has authored or co-authored over 200 taxation articles, and is the author of The Tax Aspects of Acquiring a Business (Business Expert Press, 2018).
