Cisco Systems
AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF Cisco Systems, in San Jose, a visitor sits at a semicircular table in a conference room. Across from him is an employee of Cisco. The meeting unfolds in much the same way as millions of other meetings that take place in corporate conference rooms all around the world every day. In this case, the visitor and the Cisco employee are discussing TelePresence, a Cisco product. They’re also using TelePresence. The employee, as it happens, is sitting in an entirely different room from the one where the visitor sits. Indeed, from the visitor’s perspective, the Cisco employee might as well be sitting in a room halfway around the world.
