2.1 OVERVIEW OF SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
We defined a system as a collection of elements which provides capabilities that no single element can provide alone. The additional capabilities, beyond that of individual elements, are the result of interactions among those elements. We intentionally exploit this quality of systems, that of providing greater capabilities than those that their elements provide in isolation, by bringing together a set of elements and designing their interactions to achieve desired capabilities.
