13. Experiment Design

The design of an identification experiment includes several choices, such as which signals to measure and when to measure them and which signals to manipulate and how to manipulate them. It also includes some more practical aspects, such as how to condition the signals before sampling them (choice of presampling filters).

In a sense, the design variables associated with the identification experiment are more crucial than many of the other variables described in Section 12.1.
