A Super-Quick Walkthrough
This section provides a high-level outline of the steps to go through to deploy your first updates in a lab. If you used software updates management in ConfigMgr 2007, this process is much simpler and should be intuitive.
1. Install and configure WSUS discussed in the “Prerequisites for Software Updates” section.
2. Install and configure a SUP as discussed in the “Software Update Point Placement” section.
3. Synchronize the update catalog as discussed in the “Update Synchronization” section. Note that this takes a significant amount of time depending upon your Internet connection speed and performance of the system(s) used for WSUS and the SUP.
