Creating and Managing Collections
Collections may very well be the most important object in ConfigMgr. Collections are used for software distribution, patching, settings management, client settings, power management, and more. Collections in ConfigMgr 2012 consist of two distinct types:
• Devices (computers, mobile devices, and such)
• Users (username, active directory user groups, and so on)
Collections may also be the most dangerous object in ConfigMgr. When you modify the rules of an existing collection, you may significantly increase the number of devices or users in a collection.
