7.1 Friction Material Components
More than 2000 different ingredients are currently used in a brake friction material (brake pad or lining) [1]. Brake pads consist of a composite material, which is composed of a number of different compounds. Up to 20 or 25 different ingredients are usually added in a brake friction material [2–5].
