Reward and Recognition

When it comes to employees, most businesses utilize some type of reward and recognition. First, let us look at the difference between reward and recognition. A reward is usually something tangible, like a gift or a sum of money. Recognition can happen anytime. It can be as simple as a manager telling an employee they did a great job on their report.

But I have always though that reward and recognition is a delicate thing for management. In many cases, they can result in more negatives than positives, in my opinion. If you have 50 people and you reward 5 of them, you may have motivated the 5, but there are 45 that may not feel the same way.
