Chapter overview
Stage 0: Strategic Definition represents the first steps of a client embarking on a project and is the opportunity to take a project from an intention, through a commitment to proceed, to development of those elements of the Strategic Brief that embrace economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainable construction.
It is the time to ensure that everyone understands the nature of a sustainable approach and its implications for the Business Case – the benefits, responsibilities and related issues. Lessons should be learned from previous projects (see Stage 7: In Use).
