Business and information technology (IT) professionals can become equally exasperated with one another, as they are often such opposites. However, the degree to which business and IT can partner together is a critical organizational aspect to successful business intelligence (see Chapter 6, Figure 6-1). According to the Successful BI survey, 36 percent identified the business–IT partnership as essential for success, and 36 percent say it is very important. For the sake of impactful business intelligence, then, opposites better attract!
