ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS have a responsibility to keep people safe from psychological harm in the workplace. Employees have a legal right to work in a place free from harassment, including the hostility associated with an environment saturated with unaddressed subtle acts of exclusion. It is quite normal for SAE to happen in the workplace. It is the response from others, from HR, and from leadership that determines the outcome and whether they become an acceptable part of the organizational culture. Our goal is to help you identify ways to create an environment that is unwelcoming to SAE by creating accountability and naming the problem.
