Author’s Journey

Sheryl grew up in New York City and still bears traces of her accent, which is very apparent when she says the word “coffee” (or as she pronounces it, cough-ee.) Sheryl stayed in New York with her husband while raising two sons, then she became a transplanted New Yorker and moved to the Boston area.

She was a child rhetorician, but not by choice! Sheryl was raised by a mother who was a stickler for speaking impeccably. When Sheryl was about five, her mother taught her to spell schizophrenia and antidisestablishmentarian, and she paraded Sheryl around like a prized show dog urging her to perform those words for anyone who’d listen. That experience must have had a subliminal impact because it instilled in Sheryl a love of words and the mastery of speaking in front of people — paving the path for her stunning career as a corporate trainer, business communications aficionado, and coach.

After receiving a combined Master’s Degree in Business and English, Sheryl started her own communications company, Sheryl Lindsell-Roberts & Associates. In addition to corporate training, her career has spanned directing marketing and public relations campaigns, scripting video productions, writing technical docs, and authoring books.
