3.2. Graphing Measurement Data
Histogram
A histogram is a special bar chart for measurement data. In the histogram, the data are grouped into adjacent numerical categories; for example, 100 to less than 200, 200 to less than 300, 300 to less than 400, and so on. You can use Minitab or JMP to organize the data into groups and plot the histogram. The difference between a bar chart and a histogram is that the X-axis on a bar chart is a listing of categories, while the X-axis on a histogram is a measurement scale. In addition, in the histogram, there are no gaps between adjacent bars.
