The very term analysis of covariance sounds mysterious and forbidding. And there are enough ins and outs to the technique (usually called ANCOVA) that this book spends two chapters on it—as it does with t-tests, ANOVA, and multiple regression. This chapter discusses the basics of ANCOVA, and Chapter 18, “Analysis of Covariance: Further Issues,” goes into some of the special approaches that the technique requires and issues that can arise.
