Chapter 12. Building a Data Warehouse with DTS and Analysis Services
Chapter 11, “Introduction to Data Warehousing and Analysis Services,” discussed the concepts of data warehousing, data marts, cubes, and Analysis Services. This chapter takes you through a sample DTS package that creates a dimensional database; then it walks you through creating a cube using Analysis Services.
In the DTS package created in this chapter, you will make connections to an Excel spreadsheet, an Access database, and a SQL Server database. You will use the Transform Data Task and the SQL Task to prepare your data for the Analysis Services cube.
