uname — Print Name of Current System
Synopsis
/usr/bin/uname [-aimnprsvX]
/usr/bin/uname [-S system-name]
Description
The uname command prints information about the current system on the standard output.
By default, the uname command with no options displays only the name of the current operating system, as shown in the following example.
castle% uname
SunOS
castle%
When you specify options, symbols representing one or more system characteristics are written to the standard output. The options print selected information returned by uname(2), sysinfo(2), or both.
