Abstract

This chapter considers operators like distance, derivative, and ranking on fuzzy sets. One of the most important operations on fuzzy sets is the difference. It may seem strange that we call it “difference” and not “subtract,” but this is because the subtraction of two sets of ordered pairs or functions cannot be defined properly and here, we define it by Hukuhara difference.

This concept is a key operator to define the derivative of a fuzzy function.
