∗ This chapter attempts to assess the research done in the field of industrial sociology during the period 1987 and 2002. It was a difficult task locating all the work done during this fairly large period of time. This chapter contains only published work. It does not cover unpublished M.Phil. and Ph.D. dissertations. Neither does it take into account unpublished research reports. Much of the data collection for this chapter was done by Ms Anonna Banerjee, research scholar, department of sociology, University of Mumbai.
