Frey Foundation (Minnesota): A Story of a Journey from Charity to Systems Change Engagement by Terri Barreiro
The Frey Foundation was formed in 1997 after the sale of a family-owned company. This small family foundation engages three generations in its philanthropic decisions. Jim Frey is the part-time staff person and also a member of the Board of Trustees. On June 25, 2010 Jim told the story of the foundation’s systems change engagement to Terri Barreiro, Executive-in-Residence and member of the Philanthropy and Public Policy Initiative team at the Humphrey Institute’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership.
