Chapter 4. The Role of WSDL, SOAP, and Java/XML Mapping in SOA
This chapter describes how the core Web Services standards—WSDL and SOAP—are used for implementing SOA in a Java environment. In particular, since a great many Java applications being developed need to integrate with an existing or planned SOA framework, I examine WSDL and SOAP from the perspective of SOA Integration. SOA Integration is an approach to systems integration that involves deploying the applications to be integrated as sets of SOA-style services. The integration is accomplished by aggregating the resulting services to create loosely coupled applications built from the underlying services.
