Abstract

An electrical grid which acts smartly to control various operations of electronics and manage energy using energy measures is known as smart grid. Smart grid is used in home appliances in response to the demand. Distribution boards, control switches and circuit breakers are integrated into smart grid. The energy sources are renewed and batteries are recycled using the energy storage. Production control, conditioning of electronic power and distribution of power are the major features of smart grid. Smart grid is mainly evolved to build infrastructure for dual communication. Smart grid has many challenges to improve efficiency of the usage and to improve transmission, distribution, sustainability and reliability of the electricity. As Smart grids are greatly used in the field of electronics, it is vulnerable for attacks also. The attacks are happened by changing and monitoring information when the smart grid are in communication. The data passed between the smart grids are sensitive and high in volume. The attacks are highly minacious while traversing the environment as they intercept, manipulate and collect the data in transit. The chapter reveals the concept of smart grid and how the challenges, ...
