Plan based on the desired outcome of the scheduled session(s). Work backward from that to determine what needs to be done prior to the facilitation. I am assuming that this planning is for a face-to-face session although, of course, other options exist.
Discussions. As soon as possible, work with either an internal facilitator or someone familiar with group needs to develop a plan for the session, including what materials will be distributed ahead of time and what work, if any, members should be expected to complete before the session.
