Chapter 2 discussed how to address the fundamental barrier to deployment in the real economy, the attitude that “we’re different,” leading to the belief that “Six Sigma doesn’t apply to us.” In this chapter, we review some actual deployment case studies from organizations that have successfully overcome this barrier. We present deployments from several application areas, such as financial services, research and development, and health care. The health care case study is from a non-profit organization, illustrating how Six Sigma can be effective in non-profits.
