This book, and the larger project in which it is embedded, evolved out of extended conversations with colleagues over how to deal with my concern about the shortage of opportunities my generation is leaving the next-generation workforce. Four good friends, Tom Barocci, Barbara Dyer, Mary Ann Beyster, and Fran Benson, each in their own way said if I really wanted to improve things for the members of the next generation I should engage them and listen to what they want from their jobs, careers, and personal lives.
