The first stage is dominated by basic needs and group influences.
The second stage involves formulation of customer perceptions and buying motives. This includes the following two factors:
Emotional and/or rational buying motives
Product and/or patronage buying motives
When both these motives turn to needs, it leads to the third stage, which is buying decisions.
