Joining Data from Another Data Source
One of the most significant enhancements in SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 is the ability to join multiple data sources at the universe level. In the past, users could merge multiple data providers within a report. This capability still exists, so designers should consider whether to support multiple data sources within the universe or use a report, as summarized in the following table. As the Data Federator engine does not cache query results, it is not a replacement for a data mart or data warehouse for handling larger data volumes.
