Universe and BEx Queries
Universe and BEx queries are new to SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 4.0. Using the Query Browser and query designer to bind data directly from your universes to the components in your dashboard, including the pros and cons, was covered in Chapter 23.
The data returned in a query from a universe can be bound to the embedded spreadsheet and also directly to the components on your canvas. There are still some limitations to using universes and BEx queries as a direct data binding source to your components. You will find that some of the properties of your components, such as title properties, range sliders, and alerts, are still tightly integrated with the embedded spreadsheet only.
