F our lanes of speeding commuters sling-shot out of the Waldo Tunnel separated by less than the width of a handshake, except no one here is in a handshaking mood. Hands clench steering wheels as the drizzle-slick highway abruptly drops and slaloms right, left, right, then, for good measure, narrows to three lanes. It gets worse: Dead center, through their windshields, towers what may be the most seductive distraction in the Western world: the Golden Gate Bridge.
