Filters are one of the indispensable components in RF applications [1]. An ideal filter provides the perfect transmission of the signal for frequencies in the required passband region, and the infinite attenuation for frequencies in the stopband region. The critical RF filter parameters include high return loss, minimum attenuation distortion, a flat group delay in the passband, and high attenuation in the stopband. The basic filters that are used in RF applications are categorized as low-pass, high-pass, bandpass, and bandstop filters with their ideal filter characteristics shown in Figure 6.1.
