Business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) are the plans and processes to ensure the enterprise can run in the event of a disruptive occurrence such as a fire, flood, or cyberattack. BC from an organizational perspective includes things like how to run a hospital in the midst of a pandemic or how to continue operations if there's a supply chain problem, a burst pipe in the ceiling of a patient care area, or an extended EHR downtime due to a network malfunction or cyberattack.
