Who’s Your Mentor?
At this point, you’ve identified your new path, tested it out, and begun to develop the new skills you need to succeed. But, regardless of your abilities, entering a new field or working your way up the corporate ladder can still be a confusing, frustrating process. It helps to have an experienced guide to help you navigate. But mentors, sadly, are in short supply. While it would be great to have a sage senior professional tap you out of the blue (“I recognize your potential—let me help you achieve it!”), it’s probably not going to happen. Though some people get lucky, for most of us, mentors never materialize.
