Recording Solo Voice and Orchestra

As with concerto recording, visual communication between vocal soloist and conductor is very important. Balance is even more important if we are to consider the fact that we now have text in a song that needs to be understood, where a violin melody could be slightly obscured for a few notes here and there with less issue. The basic mechanics and limitations of the voice must be considered in terms of endurance, volume, and power. This will affect the physical placement of the singer on stage, how long the singer or singers can perform each day, and the number of times a very demanding passage may be recorded during a session.
