Chapter 4
How to Do It: Design
This chapter will help you to:
- Choose the right delivery system for your training
- Create useful objectives based on your job and task analysis
- Discover what a design document is and how it can be used
- Develop an instructional plan to guide you as you produce training materials
- Create test questions that will effectively measure your trainees' learning
............By now you are probably pretty much “analyzed out” and might be thinking: “This has all been very informative, but are we ready to start putting together a training program yet?” The answer to your question is yes, but not quite yet. You have one more decision to make first, and it is probably the most important decision you will make in your instructional design. As a question it might be asked as: “What will be the setting for my training?” or, in a slightly less formal way: “How will my training program be delivered?” In keeping with our metaphor of building a house, this chapter will take us through framing, that is, developing the skeleton structure for what our training will actually look like when it is done. Determining your delivery method is the first thing you will need to decide. If you are so inclined you might call this delivery analysis.
