About the Author
David E. Hiebeler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Maine. He was previously a Visiting Lecturer at Cornell University. He has degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Cornell University.
He previously worked at the Center for Nonlinear Studies, the Theoretical Division, and the Advanced Computing Lab at Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Santa Fe Institute, and Thinking Machines Corporation. He began programming at age 12 on an Apple ][+ computer. His research involves mathematical and computational stochastic spatial models in population ecology and epidemiology.
