Using Hybrid Algorithms – Optimization Using Gate-Based Quantum Computers
We’ll now begin discussing how gate-based quantum computers can be used for optimization. We have already reviewed the fundamental concepts of the qubit, the Bloch Sphere, quantum gates, and simple quantum circuits. We will now understand how phase information is used to make calculations on quantum computers. In Chapter 7, Using Gate Quantum Computers – Basic Quantum Algorithms, we introduced the phase adder, which was able to do addition and subtraction by manipulating the phase of the qubits on the Fourier basis; then, inverse QFT was used to reveal the value that had been stored.
