In the pages that follow, I have made up names for all of the workers I met during the course of reporting this book. I did this to preserve their anonymity and shield their true identities; if I were in their shoes, I would have expected similar treatment. Providing pseudonyms and rendering the people I met as characters also seemed to fit well with the way in which workers are all asked to play parts in what I came to see as a form of modern corporate theater.
